Henderson man, 78, dies after vehicle rolls over him

The Henderson Police Department is investigating the death of a 78-year-old man who died Saturday. City spokeswoman Kathleen Richards said Thursday that the Las Vegas man was hit by a vehicle about 6:15 p.m. on Feb. 18.

East valley shooting injures 1

Las Vegas police are responding to an east valley shooting. It happened about 7:15 p.m. Thursday in the 1400 block of Charleston Boulevard, near 17th Street.

Reno’s economy is thriving, but will it continue?

Mike Kazmierski stood at the podium with good news to report to the 400 local businesspeople who had gathered to hear him speak at Reno’s Atlantis Casino ballroom in January. During 2014, 34 companies had relocated to the area. Nearly 4,200 jobs were created, bringing unemployment down to 6.4 percent, a big drop from 2011’s high of 14.2 percent.

Cyclists plan to pedal to raise awareness, funds for Three Square

A local military unit, made up of Summerlin residents and one from Centennial Hills, is set to bring the fight against national hunger to the Las Vegas Valley. The unit plans to pedal its way from San Francisco’s Golden Gate Bridge to Las Vegas, starting in late May, to raise money for Three Square food bank.
