Strong convention lineup powers visitation to best ever April

A strong convention calendar translated into the best April for visitation ever recorded, the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority reported Friday. The convention authority said 3.5 million visitors were in Southern Nevada in April, a 2.4 percent increase over the same month a year ago, the largest monthly percentage increase of the year.

Relatively speaking, he’s still a newcomer to Southern Nevada, having bought Las Vegas Motor Speedway in 1998, two years after the track opened. The event has grown steadily, and for the fourth event, organizer Ina Mohan hopes to have around 1,000 attendees, which has necessitated a move to the Tuscany, 255 E. Flamingo Road.
