$350 million soccer plan floated

Jason Ader, a gaming industry entrepreneur from New York City, said he is going to launch a $350 million effort to bring a Major League Soccer team to Las Vegas, complete with a new covered stadium of 18,000-20,000 seats and players with international appeal.

Metro officer hurt in 3-vehicle crash

A patrol officer went to the hospital with a broken hand after a three-vehicle crash in the northwest valley, Las Vegas police say. The crash happened just after 5:30 p.m. at Torrey Pines and Vegas drives.

Las Vegas Mayhem win opener in Connie Mack regional

Juan Deolarte singled home Cruz Nevarez with one out in the bottom of the sixth inning to break a 1-1 tie and give the Las Vegas Mayhem a 2-1 win over the Southern California Renegades on Tuesday in the Connie Mack West Regional at Golden West College in Huntington Beach, Calif.

First Friday happenings for Aug. 1, 2014

The First Friday arts festival is scheduled from 5 to 11 p.m. Aug. 7 at venues throughout the 18b Arts District in downtown Las Vegas. Admission is free, and free parking with shuttle service is available at the Clark County Government Center, 500 S. Grand Central Parkway. Live entertainment, artists’ booths, food vendors and more are planned.
