Police make arrest in fatal shooting

A man was arrested Tuesday in connection with a Monday shooting that killed one man, according to Las Vegas police. Jonathan Perez, 22, was arrested and taken to the Clark County Detention Center. He faces charges including first-degree murder, possession of a gun by a prohibited person, and discharging a gun within a structure or prohibited area.

High-powered attorney may assist cattle rancher in BLM dispute

Flanked by someone who could be their famous new lawyer, the embattled Bundy family plans to unveil possible legal action Thursday in connection with the failed federal roundup of its cattle. The Bundys announced late Wednesday that nationally known conservative public interest attorney Larry Klayman is meeting with rancher Cliven Bundy to discuss a response to the week-long operation, which ended suddenly April 12 when federal authorities pulled out to avoid a violent confrontation with the family and their heavily armed supporters.

Police ask victims to come forward in child luring case

Las Vegas police asked the public for assistance Wednesday in identifying possible victims of a man who was arrested and faces two counts of luring of a child with sexual intent. Jonathan Thyron Thompson, 30, was arrested Monday after Las Vegas police say he had been contacting a juvenile female through social media with the intent of persuading her to have sex with him. A second alleged victim was later identified by Las Vegas police.

The 2014 NFL season will kick off Sept. 4 in Seattle, where the Super Bowl champion Seahawks will be honored before the boisterous 12th Man in the regular-season opener against the Green Bay Packers. A full schedule for the upcoming season was announced by the league on Wednesday.
