Police: Juvenile almost drowns at central valley apartment complex

Las Vegas police responded to a near drowning at an apartment complex in the central Las Vegas Valley on Tuesday night. Metro supervisor Lt. Bruce Miyama said a youth was found in a swimming pool in the Hidden Cove apartment complex near West Desert Inn Road and South Decatur Boulevard.

Henderson phases in recreation fee hikes

Fee increases at Henderson recreation centers will be phased in from now to 2017 under a plan approved Tuesday night by the City Council. The city originally planned to impose sharp fee hikes this year, but resident opposition led to the plan for more gradual increases.




MGM sells Reno casino holdings to Eldorado Resorts

MGM Resorts International sold its Reno casino holdings Tuesday to Eldorado Resorts for $72.5 million, giving the Northern Nevada company ownership of Circus Circus Reno and a remaining 50 percent stake in the Silver Legacy.

EDITORIAL: Henderson shouldn’t hike recreation fees

Last month, a couple of dozen Henderson residents showed up at a City Council meeting to speak out against a proposal to dramatically raise recreation fees. And in a laudable moment of serving the public interest, the City Council listened, tabling the measure and voting unanimously to instead consider a revised proposal. But make no mistake, the city wants to raise those fees one way or another, and a vote to do so could happen at tonight’s meeting.
