Aftermarket upgrades improve older vehicles

America's car-buying habits have drastically changed. Easy loans and cheap leases dried up when the economy crashed, leaving wannabe car shoppers in a lurch.

As a result, many drivers are finding new appeal in their paid-up transportation, even though the cars aren't brand-new. If it was built during the last few years, chances are it's holding together pretty well and durable enough to go the extra miles. The only problem is that it doesn't have the latest goods.

So why not update the car you drive?

"It's no different than (the upgrades) you would do in your kitchen at home," said John Rana, owner of Total Eclipse Automotive. "Why not do the same thing for your car?"

Total Eclipse offers a package of up-to-date add-ons that really make a difference in cars' performance and appearance. For less than a car payment, these changes can make your car more modern, safer and better looking.

Safety starts with Xenon headlight bulbs, which are used in the latest car models and increase visibility down the road. Out back, brighter LED taillight bulbs light up faster than traditional bulbs, giving the car behind more time to stop in panic situations.

The Total Eclipse remodel also includes an electronic pressure warning system, which is common in newer models, to let drivers know if a tire is low on air. Low pressure kills fuel economy, ruins handling, increases wear and increases the chance that tires might pop in high desert temperatures.

Finally, the remodel adds a clear, ceramic windshield film. Although it's completely transparent, the innovative coating kills glare, making summer driving safer; reduces interior heat, saving the interior from sun damage; and saves fuel since the air conditioner won't have to work as hard.

"Remodeling is about making cars and trucks look and feel and work better, for a price nearly anyone can afford, even in this economy," Rana said. "It sure beats payments every month, when you can make the one you own better looking, more fuel efficient, safer and cooler for less than a single monthly payment might cost."

Total Eclipse is located at 7185 W. Sahara Ave. For more information, call 222-0809.
