Best customer service top priority for Lexus


Phil Korinis said he sometimes feels like an airport traffic controller, making sure his customers’ concerns are being met, while at the same time moving their vehicles at a reasonable and steady pace through the shop.

It’s the music of this orchestration that gets his heart pumping every day.

Korinis began his career in June 2006 at Lexus of Las Vegas as a valet when he was 19 years old. He quickly moved into a service consulting position and transferred to Lexus of Henderson when the dealership opened in 2010.

“It was a neat opportunity I stumbled into,” Korinis said. “I came out here in May 2006 when my parents retired to Las Vegas and got hired at Lexus in June. This has always been something I liked, because I enjoy talking to people.”

Korinis said he was first attracted to cars when he was a teenager growing up in Pittsburgh and he had the opportunity to study under a master mechanic. Smiling, he said he fondly remembers the joy of working on classic Ferraris, Morgans and once a 1967 Shelby Cobra.

That passion and patience he learned as a youth being around car people who took pride in their craft has been the cornerstone of his success at Lexus.

“You need to listen to your customers and be able to relay their concerns to the technician,” said Korinis, service manager at the dealership. “And you need to be cognizant of their schedule and function in their time frame.”

Korinis said it also helps that he has memorized all the service menus during the past seven years, making the process more efficient and less time consuming.

“The fact that Lexus has a quality product makes my job easy,” he said. “I have so many resources at my fingertips to make sure people are treated right the first time. We also have district service and parts managers available if I need them. The No. 1 thing to remember is to be truthful with people and establish realistic expectations to make sure the customer is being taken care of properly. I try to work so the process will be seamless around their schedule.”
