The automotive Freeman family of Las Vegas capitalized on the car business two years ago when it purchased the old Norm Baker Motors at 6175 W. Sahara Ave.
Residents of Southern Nevada since 1992, the Freemans knew that with all of its challenges, the car business would prosper at what is called Crossroads Auto Center near Jones Boulevard in the southwest valley.
With David Freeman, wife Cindy and daughter Sarah, the family was a success at a previous location on East Sahara Avenue before selling and moving west.
“We thought this building was an excellent purchase and you can’t beat the location,” said David Freeman, whose family is originally from northwest Oklahoma. “This is a better location and a better facility that we can expand on during the future.”
David Freeman’s experience in the car business has included stints with Fletcher Jones Chevrolet, Desert GMC Buick and Autonation. His connections in Southern Nevada are immense.
With keen foresight and business savvy, the Freemans’ business concentrates on preowned vehicles that are 2 years old and newer. In addition, Crossroads has a full customizing department including lift kits on Jeep Wranglers, custom tires and wheels.
In somewhat of a boutique atmosphere, Crossroads Auto Center is not only low pressure but also quiet unlike many traditional car dealerships, David Freeman said.
“Most of our customers are professional types who are concentrating on saving money by purchasing a preowned vehicle,” he said. “Many business-oriented people want a preowned product that saves on the depreciation involved in the purchase of new vehicles.”
Also key to the family-run business is small staff that equates to lower overhead.
“With that in mind, we can offer lower prices because we have less overhead,” Sarah Freeman said.
The family has several outlets for its vehicles including auctions along with General Motors and Chrysler Corps. All vehicles offered by the dealership include full warranties.
“We are actually a Car Fax Advantage dealer,” Sarah Freeman said. “We also offer free Car Fax with every car so that we don’t have to worry about our customers. Many of our customers are friends of mine from when I went to high school at Silverado in the late 1990s.”
