Ford raises money for school band

Ford Country helped Green Valley High School raise $3,100 for the school’s band at a recent test-drive event as part of Ford Motor Co.’s Drive 4 UR School program.

More than 150 Henderson-area residents test drove a Ford vehicle at Green Valley High School Nov. 16. Ford Country and Ford Motor Co. donated $20 for each test drive with funds going toward the band program.

Since the program’s inception in 2007, the Drive 4 UR School program has generated more than $16 million in donations for high schools nationwide. The money raised during the Drive 4 UR School program has helped ensure that extracurricular activities such as sports and music programs continue in local communities despite budget cuts.

“I am thrilled that so many people from the local community turned out to support Green Valley High School. Ford Country’s partnerships in the community is one of our most important commitments. Participants had the chance to take a fun, casual drive in one of our vehicles, while lending our students and community a much-needed helping hand,” said Bill Bosnos, general sales manager of Ford Country.

“With all the cutbacks in school budgets, finding creative ways to fundraise is imperative,” said Diane Koutsulis, band director at Green Valley High School. “The money from Ford will make a difference to our students, and it says a lot about who they are as a company. The money raised on Nov. 16 will help our program tremendously.”
