Las Vegas native purchases second Hyundai

Shyla Sturtz recently traded in a 2013 Elantra for a 2014 Sonata at Planet Hyundai Sahara at 7150 W. Sahara Ave.

“The first Hyundai I owned was fine, and the new Sonata is even better,” the 39-year-old Las Vegas native said.

“My dad co-signed for my first car and I really wanted my independence,” said Sturtz, whose family opened the Country Café restaurant near Nellis Air Force Base. “After owning the Elantra for a year, I wanted to see if I could purchase a car under my own name.”

Sturtz met with Planet Hyundai Sahara sales agent Brandon White, who determined that the purchase of a new Hyundai was possible.

“I didn’t know what to expect going into the dealership,” said Sturtz, whose family now owns Our Families Country Café in Mountain’s Edge in the southwest valley. Brandon was a huge help. He asked me what I was looking for and knew so much about their product, explaining in detail an answer to every question I had.

“I figured that if nothing else, I would drive out in my Elantra. I wanted a car with a little more ‘oomph’ to it and Brandon walked out into the lot and found a car that had everything I asked for. The first car I test drove was the car I purchased.”

There is nothing like the feeling of driving a new car, Sturtz said.

“This one has everything that I wanted,” she said. “It even has some things I didn’t think I needed and some things I didn’t know I wanted.”

The four-cylinder, six-speed 192 horsepower 2.4 liter gasoline direct inject power plant is very powerful.

“I was very impressed with the Elantra and even more impressed with the Sonata,” Sturtz said. “It has an automatic transmission with Shift Tronics allowing me to drive the car like a stick without a clutch. It’s very cool.”

Sturtz’s mother, Jackie, has a 2012 Sonata.

“The deals they have here are the best in town and the warranty is unbeatable,” she said. “I had driven my mom’s Sonata and really liked it.”

The 10-year, 100,000-mile powertrain warranty and 5-year, 60,000-mile warranty have also played big parts in the decision to purchase a Hyundai.

“That’s absolutely true,” Sturtz said. “I feel very comfortable driving a Hyundai.”
