Lexus of Henderson hires U.S. Army veteran as sales agent

Lt. Lauren Luckey and her platoon were in a convey, cautiously snaking through Kunar Province, Afghanistan, when her visiting battalion commander gave the order to dismount and proceed by foot to the top of a nearby mountain to scout the terrain. Within seconds, all hell broke loose as enemy fire rained down from three directions, 2,000 meters above.

“My gunner got hit and I patched him up immediately,” Luckey said. “I called in fire support from the helicopters, and we held them off until the sun started setting. The enemy can’t fight at night because they don’t have night vision.”

Everyone made it home safely that night, and the Army awarded Luckey the Bronze Star for the entire deployment. She is also the recipient of the Army’s Airborne, Pathfinder and German Arms Proficiency badges. Like others of this small band of brothers and sisters who under extraordinary circumstances accomplish heroic deeds, Luckey is a little hesitant, somewhat embarrassed, to talk about what she did, opting instead to give credit to her entire platoon for accomplishing their mission.

After her discharge from the military, Luckey came to Las Vegas to apply for an ROTC instructor position at UNLV. She was offered the job, but decided to turn it down to accept a certified sales and leasing consultant position at Lexus of Henderson.

“I wanted a career that afforded me a higher glass ceiling,” Luckey said. “I love Lexus. I’ve been a Lexus owner since 2008 when I purchased an IS F Sport. I love the product, the service and how detail-orientated Lexus is.”

Luckey said the Lexus philosophy also closely matched her own standards — valuing the customer, a strong work ethic, trust and integrity.

“I like how fast-paced it is here,” Luckey said. “I get to meet all kinds of different customers. This is a great job.”

“We are very honored to have Ms. Luckey on our Lexus of Henderson team,” said Justin Mackie, sales manager. “Lexus of Henderson is dedicated to helping our servicemen and servicewomen find good-paying jobs when they return home.”
