Lexus of Las Vegas to sponsor Fallen Heroes run on May 17

Lexus of Las Vegas is proud to announce that it is a sponsor of the second annual Douglas J. Green Memorial Foundation’s Fallen Heroes 5/10k run and 1-mile fun walk May 17 at Bruce Trent Park, at the corner of North Rampart Boulevard and Vegas Drive.

Lexus of Las Vegas will be providing water at this year’s event and giving a sizable donation to support the efforts of the foundation. Later in the year, it will be donating food and preparing care packages with volunteers of the foundation in support of active-duty troops.

“For Lexus to step up and be a part of this year’s 5/10k run and walk is amazing,” said Suni Chabrow, founder of the foundation and mother of late Army Spec. Douglas J. Green. “Lexus understands that men and women are deployed overseas and are hungry and have a shortage of supplies. Lexus said they want to support us any way they can.”

Over the 2013 holiday season, the company donated funds for care packages that included food for American troops overseas, Chabrow added. Donations were used in curtailing the costs of mailing care packages to troops.

Registration and costs for the 5/10k run and 1-mile walk are available on the website For information about the foundation, visit

An honor guard presentation takes place at 8 a.m. May 17; opening ceremonies begin at 8:15 a.m.; the 5/10k race starts at 8:30 a.m.; and the 1-mile fun walk begins at 8:35 a.m.

Green who by giving the ultimate sacrifice of their lives that make it possible for us, our families and friends to enjoy the daily freedoms we take for granted in this country.

“There are many issues that Lexus of Las Vegas feels passionate about, so we use our resources to assist any way we can. We implore others throughout Southern Nevada to join us in not only supporting this Fallen Heroes event, but by giving support to any charitable causes needing financial help and assistance.”

Green, 23, of Sterling, Va., was killed in Afghanistan when insurgents attacked his unit with a rocket propelled grenade.
