Lexus lot porters keep things running smoothly

The next time you visit the Lexus of Henderson dealership and stroll through the beautifully displayed rows of vehicles on the front lot or leisurely open and sit inside the array of artistically arranged models on the showroom floor, just remember that none of what you see would have been possible without the dedicated work of Lexus lot porters.

Lexus of Henderson has three porters constantly unloading vehicles from transport trucks, checking for damage, making sure all paperwork is in order, logging each vehicle’s information into the computer system and then driving, shuffling around and parking each vehicle to be displayed for sale.

Lot Manager Tyler Heishman and his two support porters, Dakota Montgomery and Robert Ventura, make sure things keep running smoothly at Lexus of Henderson.

“The majority of our front-end operation couldn’t function without them,” said Phil Korinis, master certified service manager. “We couldn’t process any of the cars.”

Besides making sure new vehicles are properly checked in and inventoried, porters also work with the sales department when customers’ used vehicles are traded in. Heishman said vehicles to be sold on the lot are first sent to shop-certified technicians for a thorough inspection and then on to the detail department.

“We also have access to a lot of information for salesmen,” Heishman said. “We can tell them where cars are at in the delivery process and when they will be arriving. The sales department won’t know what’s on the lot until we check them in.”

In between the constant flow of new and preowned vehicles arriving at the dealership, the three porters also assist the sales department by delivering vehicles to customers, helps the service department with shuttle service and drives vehicles to and from special events for public display.

“We also make sure all the prices are correct on the vehicles’ window stickers,” Heishman said. “We put fobs on all the cars for the sales department key track and keep a second set of keys and the owner’s manuals locked away until the vehicles are sold.”

The dealership is located at the Valley Auto Mall, 7736 Eastgate Road, Henderson. For more information, call 702-228-7736 or visit www.lexusofhenderson.com.
