Park Place Infiniti donates backpacks full of supplies to elementary school

Park Place Infiniti recently delivered more than two dozen backpacks filled with school supplies to fourth- and fifth-grade students at Wynn Elementary School through the dealership’s partnership with Communities In Schools of Nevada.

When Dallas-based Park Place Dealerships bought the Sahara Avenue Infiniti store, they brought to the dealership the company’s Circle of Excellence, an employee-led program dedicated to supporting worthwhile local charities. Through the program, Park Place members held a fundraiser in August to collect money to buy the backpacks and fill them with school supplies such as paper, pens, pencils and binders.

Shawntelle Adler, finance manager at Park Place Infiniti, coordinated the drive with Jim Likely, the dealership’s parts manager.

“We held penny wars and raised close to $300 to buy backpacks and school supplies for students at Elaine Wynn Elementary School, which is just around the corner from the dealership,” Adler said. “With the school year beginning and knowing the great work CIS of Nevada does, the members were all very excited and engaged.”

“Communities In Schools of Nevada has grown from supporting 12 schools last school year to 21 schools for the current school year in Southern Nevada. Our student populations are majority low-income and high-risk. These children in many cases would not have the basic supplies they need to be successful. A child’s confidence and self-esteem are increased with a ‘cool’ backpack over their shoulder and a notebook and pencil in their hand. The generosity of Park Place Infiniti means that CIS is better positioned to meet the increased needs at an important time in our expansion of empowering students to stay in school and achieve in life,” said Diane Fearon, CEO, Communities In Schools of Nevada.

Communities In Schools of Nevada is the local affiliate of the nation’s leading dropout prevention organization and Nevada’s most effective intervention program. Its mission is to surround students with a community of support so they can succeed in school and achieve in life. CIS of Nevada supports nearly 25,000 students in more than 40 school sites in Southern Nevada and northeastern Nevada, connecting them with critical services such as medical and dental care, mental health counseling services, food, clothing, tutoring, career exploration, academic development and other programs.
