Fans of CBS’ “The Amazing Race” will have a chance to earn spots on the award-winning show from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at open auditions at Team Ford Lincoln on U.S. Highway 95 and Ann Road
Contestants for the show will be selected based on traits that include strong wills, gregariousness, adventurousness, physical and mental adeptness and ability to adapt to new environments. Show producers will also be looking for people who have interesting lifestyles, backgrounds and personalities.
“The Amazing Race,” which has aired in America since 2001, has earned 12 Primetime Emmy Awards. In the reality game show, hosted by Phil Keoghan, the teams, each consisting of people who have an existing relationship of some sort, compete with other teams in a race around the world. Using traditional and nontraditional modes of transportation while traveling to and within different countries, the contestants face numerous tasks and challenges, sometimes quite grueling, with obstacles popping up along the way.
“This is going to be a lot of fun,” Team Ford Lincoln general sales manager Chris Goeschel said. “If you have the desire, the will and you love ‘Amazing Race’ then come down tomorrow, you just might make it.”
All contestants must be at least 21 at the time of the audition and be U.S. citizens living in the United States. All contestants must be in excellent physical and mental health.
Also, all applicants must authorize producers to conduct a background check.
To receive an invitation to be a semifinalist, each applicant must complete and return in a timely manner the applicant agreement package that will be furnished to the selected applicants. Each semifinalist must have a valid U.S. passport.
Semifinalists also will be required to complete and return the medical history form, which will be furnished to the selected applicants, in a timely manner. They must undertake physical and psychological examinations and testing in Los Angeles by medical personnel selected by the producers and meet all physical and psychological requirements.
Applicants who are selected as contestants cannot be candidates for public office until after the initial broadcast of all programs in which they appear.
Contestants must bring a completed video release and waiver stating their photos can be posted on the Team Ford Lincoln or Channel 8 websites before the auditions. They must also bring photo identification.
Although the auditions are scheduled to last until 3 p.m., contestants must be in line by no later than 2:15 p.m. Contestants will have one minute in front of the camera to demonstrate why they should be considered to compete on “The Amazing Race.”
