BOYS & GIRLS CLUBS
When it comes to being out in the community, you can't get more "out there" than the Boys & Girls Clubs of Las Vegas. The "club that beats the streets" offers sports facilities, game rooms and guidance for kids who might otherwise have no place else to go. Plans are in progress for a Green Valley facility, complete with teen center and basketball courts, to expand the group's reach and influence. Aid for AIDS of Nevada finished second.

AFAN
While some nonprofit organizations leave the in-the-trenches stuff to others, AFAN serves more than a thousand AIDS and HIV-positive patients with nitty-gritty services from emergency financial assistance to transportation, housing assistance, hot lunches and a food bank. Not to mention free HIV testing and educational programs, geared toward increasing AIDS awareness in the community.
