EAT AND DRINK
Children's MenuReaders' Pick: McDONALD'S RESTAURANTSMultiple locationsA win for the place with golden arches, which is making sure little kids learn of new toys so they can pester Mom and Dad for a precious chunk of molded plastic in one of their Happy Meals. McDonald's approach to its core of kiddie carnivores earned first place with readers. Sizzler took second. Our Pick: APPLEBEE'S NEIGHBORHOOD GRILL & BARMultiple locationsThis is where we go when we don't want just a burger and happen to have kids in tow who must be satisfied before the screaming starts. Applebee's quick service helps as does a kids' menu that arrives with crayons to enhance place mats with puzzles, pictures for coloring and extra space for creative if indecipherable scribblings. The kids' meals are smaller renditions of what Mom and Dad might order and the rock-bottom youth tabs shouldn't have to force you to send the tykes into the kitchen to work off their meals by washing dishes.
