After all that ballot counting between trips to the candy machine, our dear readers deadlocked on where the sweets taste sweetest, the new upscale Cheesecake Factory or the ever-expanding Marie Callender's coffee shops. The Factory has more dessert selections on its mile-long menu and the added attraction of a patio that allows for people-watching in the Forum Shops. Ms. Callender's cakes and pies are made fresh and are easier to score because its sweets units are all over town. The fine desserts created at Jerry's Nugget in North Las Vegas earned a third, or is it a second place? Someone else can do the math. Our Pick: CHEESECAKE FACTORYJust down the piazza from Chinois and next to Virgin Megastore in the Forum Shops' latest expansion, the Los Angeles-based cheesecake specialist is turning out an almost-overwhelming roster of plain, wildly flavored and fruit-topped cheesecakes. And no, your grandmother never came close to some of these calorie-laden concoctions that go just right with a cup of black coffee and a companion willing to share bites with you.
