At least we know where to find one in an emergency. Franchise Dunkin' Donuts came just a few doughnut holes short of avoiding a second consecutive year stuck in second place. Our Pick: CARL'S DONUTS501 S. Martin Luther King Blvd.We've been enjoying the doughnuts at reliable Carl's almost since they opened back in 1966. All right, that's an exaggeration but Carl and company do turn out light, fluffy doughnuts that are then graced with the usual variety of toppings or injected with cream fillings and jellies. Just a plain rolled in sugar and a magnum of coffee can keep us happily jabbering at our desks all morning.
