Readers' Pick: COSTCO WHOLESALE

222 S. Martin Luther King Blvd.
1080 W. Sunset Road, Henderson
You have to be a Costco member to shop inside, which may help explain why so many folks linger near the entrance where they find good dogs and Polish sausages floating warm inside gleaming steel carts. The prices are a bargain, too, leading ballot-casters to place Costco first, with Wienerschnitzel dogging behind in second place.

Our Pick: CHICAGO HOT DOGS

1078 N. Rancho Drive
True, it's close to the R-J's office near the dreadful junction of the Highway 95 and I-15 raceways - please get that monorail here soon - but we're sure we would have fallen in love with Chicago Dogs anyway. All items are shipped from the Windy City, meaning spicy dogs, sausages and traditional dogs that snap back when you bite them. Cool condiments such as marinated peppers and varied mustards further lift our spirits at this modest shop festooned with Chicago Cubs, Bears and Blackhawks posters and whatnot. But we still like the inexpensive place anyway.
