Performing Arts GroupReaders' Pick: NEVADA DANCE THEATRELas Vegas' resident ballet company waltzes back into the top spot on the strength of its current "Season to Die For." With such crowd-pleasers as "Dracula" for Halloween, "The Nutcracker" for Christmas and a recent "Storybook" double bill of "Peter and the Wolf" and "Hansel & Gretel," Nevada Dance Theatre seems determined to build a family audience that should enable the troupe to take bows for years to come. Another long-lived local institution, Las Vegas Little Theatre, stole the second-place spotlight. Our Pick: ACTORS REPERTORY THEATRELas Vegas may be a lot more than 45 minutes from Broadway, as the old tune goes. But Actors Repertory Theatre helps to close that gap with local productions of cutting-edge dramas -- including the Pulitzer Prize-winning "Angels in America: Millennium Approaches" -- that we'd otherwise have to travel elsewhere to see. The troupe's range of musicals and comedies -- and its veteran acting company -- add to its appeal.
