Readers' Pick: TOMMY ROCKERS CANTINA AND GRILL

4275 Industrial Road
You like him -- you really, really like him. At least that's the conclusion we can draw from longtime local favorite Tommy Rockers victory in this category. This beachy, laid-back Margaritaville outpost has a relaxing vibe, to be sure, and the Jimmy Buffett tribute band that sometimes surfaces onstage has its Parrothead following. Most of the time, though, it's Tommy and his one-man band routine, so we'll have to credit this as a solo win. R-J readers tabbed Drink and Eat Too as their second-place choice.

Our Pick: LEGENDS

865 N. Lamb Blvd.
The spirit of the Grateful Dead lives on at this funky ex-pizza joint where "jam"-style roots and improvisational bands try to channel the psychic presence of Uncle Jerry Garcia from whichever alternate dimension he's calling home these days. True to Dead tradition, Legends also makes room for an impressively eclectic range of music, giving local bands a showcase and touring acts -- from rock to country -- a local stage to call their own. All of which makes Legends a local legend-in-the-making, in our minds.
