Readers' Pick THE BEACH

365 Convention Center Drive
The closest ocean may be hundreds of miles away, but that doesn't stop Review-Journal readers from hitting The Beach when they want to heed the call of the wild. From the surfboards-on-the-wall decor to the female drink servers attired in bikini tops, looking like extras in a remake of David Lee Roth's "California Girls" video -- this meetcq market brings a frenetic fun-in-the-sun feeling to Glitter City. R-J readers also toasted Drink and Eat Too, making it their runner-up.

Our Pick: GORDON BIERSCH BREWING CO.

3987 Paradise Road
Judging by the Friday night crowd count, this northern California newcomer would draw plenty of ready-to-mingle singles even without its top-billed brews. Whether it's the pilsners, lagers and ales -- or the ready, willing and able males and females who crowd the place to the point of discomfort -- Gordon Biersch has become a prime prowling ground for those who want to see and be seen. And sometimes it's so crowded there's no room to maneuver, which means you're guaranteed to meet f-b f+isomebodyf-i -- even if it's only by accident.
