Readers' Pick: GOLD COAST

         An old favorite with locals, the Gold Coast knows how to run a big, relaxing upstairs room with a convenient snack bar. The Gold Coast, which edged out the Showboat this year, stays busy from 8 a.m. until the 2 a.m. session wraps up, and takes care of its regulars with Saturday specials, Silver Sessions on Monday and Friday, and a week's free play for single winners of certain sessions.

    Our Pick: SHOWBOAT

  • 2800 Fremont St.
         We like how the Showboat takes to heart this game that doesn't arouse passion in a lot of people, and really tries to do it right. It's always a nice, busy room not stuck off in the corner but run as if the hotel has bingo on its mind.
