Readers' Pick: SUNSET STATION

  • 1301 W. Sunset Road, Henderson
An eye-catching arrival in the locals market, the heavily themed Sunset Station didn't stop with the Spanish visuals. Perhaps because its surrounding area has not fully developed, Sunset goes the extra mile to entice customers with creative promotions, popular Thursday blackjack tournaments and a reputation for loose coin games that may have caused readers to give it the nod over its older sister, Boulder Station, which finished second.

    Our Pick: SUNSET STATION

We agree with the creative thinking at Sunset Station. The Hard Rock Hotel isn't the only casino to recognize the tastes of a new generation: Witness the Bruce Springsteen-era headliners and disco sendup band in the well-outfitted Club Madrid, and the Thursday night smokers in its central Gaudi bar, where a $15 buy-in offers two drinks, two cigars and hors d'oeuvres -- a deal for indulgence if we ever saw one.
