HOTELS
Lounge![]() Readers' Pick: RIOThe Rio is a heavy-hitter in the Best of Las Vegas, but we believe this is the first time they've won in this category. We'll speculate that because of this, readers are talking about the skyscraping new VooDoo Lounge -- where suave keyboardist Ghalib Ghallab lays down a cosmopolitan soundtrack to the inspiring view -- rather than the comparably ordinary Mambo's Lounge down on the ground. Caesars Palace finished in second place. Our Pick: DESERT INNAfter years of lounges being demoted to afterthought status, the new Starlight Lounge -- just to the right of the old Starlight Lounge, now a slot area -- strikes back in a big way. You have to see this one to believe it, with its two-story windows (and heavy curtains to match) framing the stage with views of the outdoor pool area. A retro, uptown look complements retro swing acts such as Blue Plate Special. Even the ceiling is cool.
