Lounge Performer

Readers' Pick: LOVESHACK

  • Texas Station
    2101 Texas Star Lane
It might seem a surprise that an '80s tribute band would be a hit in a place called the Armadillo Lounge. But country bands bombed at Texas Station, while Loveshack has been a steady hit for more than a year. Loveshack's emerging from a category heavy with nominees is much easier to explain than a second-place victory for Cook E. Jarr -- an awesome performer, but one who barely performed in Las Vegas last year.

    Our Pick: ROYAL CROWN REVUE

  • Multiple locations
Admittedly these jump 'n' jive Los Angeles hepcats aren't a home-grown lounge attraction. But the '40s-minded swing band did hold down the Desert Inn's wondrous new lounge for nearly a month last winter, and we would love it if they found their way back (hint, hint). Besides, these guys were slipping in and out of Las Vegas before they could even play their horn charts, years before the whole retro swing-martini-cigar thing got hep again and proved the right lounge act could have cross-generational appeal.
