Readers' Pick: GOLDEN GATE

         The news is less that the Golden Gate won again than the fact that it was actually unseated last year -- The Orleans beating it perhaps for the first time since we put this one up for a vote. Tradition was restored this year by a whomping long shot, and what's funny is The Orleans didn't even pull up second. Fitzgeralds, a Fremont Street neighbor, was the distant second choice.

    Our Pick: GOLDEN GATE

  •      We like the Golden Gate: We'll use this opportunity to congratulate a hotel that takes pride in its history and has cleaned up its general environment -- but not at the expense of the 99-cent standby, a cocktail glass full of bay shrimp ladled in red horseradish sauce.
