All-Around Las Vegas Performer

Readers' Pick: DANNY GANS

  • Rio
    3700 W. Flamingo Road
"All-around" is subject to interpretation, but it certainly doesn't exclude impressionists. The Rio's resident headliner steps up to the larger-than-life qualities of his subjects and delivers what they used to call a "down-front," variety-style performance. One of Gans' subjects -- Wayne Newton -- came in second.

    Our Pick: DANNY GANS

  •      If you can get past the distasteful price hikes and wearisome TV ads, Gans is a Las Vegas original -- at least as much as a mimic can be. While the whole thing smelled of a publicity stunt, we still maintain Gans had the right idea when he took the Rio to court very briefly last November -- withdrawing his complaint the next day -- after the hotel raised ticket prices from $40 to $60.
