Readers' Pick: VOODOO LOUNGE

  • Rio
    3700 W. Flamingo Road
To paraphrase Cole Porter, but only slightly, they do do that voodoo that they do quite well at the VooDoo Lounge, home of juggling bartenders, eerie phosphorescent lighting -- and a panoramic, 41-flights-up view of the Strip that makes you feel as though you could reach out and touch the lights below. Even getting there is fun, via the high-speed, glassed-in elevators that whisk visitors aloft in less than 30 seconds. A considerably lower-tech alternative -- Sunrise Mountain -- was your second choice for choice Las Vegas views.

    Our Pick: STRATOSPHERE TOWER

  • 2000 Las Vegas Blvd. South
There's nothing like getting above it all to recharge your sense of perspective -- and unless you're leaving Las Vegas aboard an airplane, you can't get above it all better than at the tippy-top of the Stratosphere's 1,149-foot observation tower. As a bonus, the Stratosphere's out-of-it location, where Main Street meets the Strip, means you can see the whole glittering expanse with one sweeping glance.
