Readers' Pick: SUNSET PARK

2601 E. Sunset Road
Boy, with the hordes of people playing tennis, softball and basketball at Sunset Park -- not to mention the people who go there to walk or jog -- no wonder the place looks so busy all the time. But, again, we can't fault your pick in this category for what's probably Las Vegas' favorite sporting getaway. Eight nicely maintained courts at Sunset are available on a first-come, first-served basis when they're not being used for formal programs. But the courts can be crowded, so don't be surprised if you have to wait a bit before that first serve. The University of Nevada, Las Vegas courts were your second choice.

Our Pick: SUNSET PARK

We agree. We particularly like it that the Springer family -- formerly of the Twin Lakes Racquet Club -- runs a family-oriented operation with low-cost lessons, tennis socials and even programs aimed at exposing disadvantaged kids to a sport they can enjoy for the rest of their lives.
