It doesn't seem wise to market a hamburger by calling attention to its least healthy nutritional feature, but what do we know? Actually, the West Coast chain points out that the "fat" in Fatburger refers to the size of the sandwich and not the lipids in it. But the Fatburger is a fine burger, particularly when accompanied by the chain's delicious fries and a float. In-N-Out Burgers, last year's winner, placed a close second.

The hand-formed burgers at Kilroy's are huge and delicious and bear whimsical names and killer toppings. It's almost impossible to eat an entire Kilroy's burger, but you'll be tempted to push your gustatory envelope because they're so good. One of our faves is the three-cheese mushroom burger, but you won't be disappointed with anything on the menu.
