McCormick & Schmick's opened just four months ago and, apparently, already has made quite an impression. The restaurant serves fresh seafood with a Pacific Northwestern flavor -- Alaska king salmon, Oregon sole, Puget Sound clams, Dungeness crab and Northwest oysters -- as well as such right-coast favorites as Chesapeake Bay blue crab, Maine lobster and Massachusetts Scrod. Smith & Wollensky finished in second place.
We love the seafood at McCormick & Schmick's, but we also like the traditional but hardly stuffy atmosphere, with the white tablecloths, wood paneling, chandeliers, stained-glass panels, dark wood booths and mahogany bar. McCormick & Schmick's already is becoming a magnet for movers and shakers, as well as mover-and-shaker wannabes, thanks to its cigar-friendly bar, microbrews and sizable roster of single malt scotches.
