You have to hand it to repeat winner Pizza Hut for the chain's ability to constantly come up with new variations on the basic sauce-and-cheese-on-dough. From the basic pie we remember from our high school days, Pizza Hut now offers thick-crust pizza, thin-crust pizza, pan pizza, stuffed-crust pizza, vegetarian pizza, chicken-topped pizza and, most recently, New York-style pizza. The chain's pizza is tasty, filled to overflowing with toppings and -- thanks to the flood of coupons the company inserts in direct-mail ads and Sunday newspaper supplements -- always affordable. Metro Pizza earned your second-place nod.
Our Pick: PIZZERIA UNO CHICAGO BAR & GRILL
2540 S. Decatur Blvd.
OK, we'll stipulate that Pizzeria Uno's pies aren't quite the pies you'd get back at the original Pizzeria Uno in Chicago. But, for us, they're good enough. Better than good, in fact -- thick and tasty, with sauce that's not too sweet and not too spicy, slathered with fresh toppings and immensely satisfying.
