We won't split hairs about whether The Joint is a concert venue or a club. There's plenty of music from concert acts big and small, and plenty of drinkin' and minglin' on nights where they don't have those ushers and folding chairs. The Boston Grill & Bar, inarguably a live music club, rang in second.

Local bands are happening again, and the Boston Grill can take a good deal of the credit. An easily accessed strip-mall location with plenty of parking creates a safe, casual atmosphere for local favorites such as Inside Scarlet, Phatter Than Albert and Home Cookin'.
