Las Vegas' own Master Magician conjures yet another Best of Las Vegas victory, claiming the top spot for a second straight year. The hometown hero continues his climb to wider renown as the headliner of several network sweeps-month TV specials, but Review-Journal readers can boast that they've been watching his winning tricks for years. (Of course they have -- Burton's folksy, family-friendly Monte Carlo show remains one of the few magic extravaganzas a family can actually afford to attend.) Strip fixture David Copperfield popped up as a distant runner-up.

And now for something completely different. Not only have the bad boys of magic made Las Vegas their off-stage home, the blustery Penn Jillette and his silent partner Teller continue to spread its fame -- or should that be infamy? -- with their "Sin City Spectacular," an FX cable network variety show that blends cool guest stars, sick tricks (along with the inimitable Eight Deadly Sins dancers) and a refreshing blast of irreverence that provides a hilariously bracing alternative to more grandiose magic acts.
