1 Fremont St.
Ho hum -- another year, another Golden Gate win. It's tough to find traces of tradition in the capital of the here-today, gone-tomorrow gimmick. But there's an exception to every rule and this downtown institution is it. From the unbeatable 99-cent price tag to the lively atmosphere, there's no better shrimp in the Las Vegas sea. You could hardly call it a splash, because they barely registered a blip on the reader radar, but the Riviera wound up a distant runner-up.
Our Pick: GOLDEN GATE
Come on in, the water's fine. This 24-hour special, topped with tangy cocktail sauce, provides a comforting sense of continuity (not to mention a tasty snack) at any time of day or night. Gee, all that (and crackers too) for a measly 99 cents. That leaves us one cent to try our luck at the penny slots -- maybe we'll win enough to finance another shrimp cocktail.
