Readers' Pick: CLARK COUNTY GOVERNMENT CENTER

500 S. Grand Central Parkway
Back in 1995, a few gadflies grumbled about Clark County fashioning itself a Taj Mahal instead of a cheaper, functional building. But for the second year in a row, readers seem happy to have this unique landmark in the epicenter of downtown; outdoor concerts even give people a more pleasant reason to visit than the usual variance red tape. The Mormon Temple finished in second place.

Our Pick: LIED DISCOVERY CHILDREN'S MUSEUM

833 Las Vegas Blvd. North
The angular children's museum branches off from its library host like the trapezoidal fantasy of a 10-year-old architect -- in other words, a perfect match for its contents. You wouldn't want a generic office-park look or a lot of right angles in an interactive children's museum, and the Lied doesn't disappoint.
