Readers' Pick: LIED DISCOVERY CHILDREN'S MUSEUM

833 Las Vegas Blvd. North
Hmm. What do you do when the city's one true example of a cut-ting-edge, high-tech participatory museum begins to show its age? Call in the Muppets! Maybe it wasn't last fall's special exhibit, "The Magic of Jim Henson," that led voters to give the Lied its fourth win in a row. But Big Bird told us it's true, and Big Bird doesn't lie at the Lied. Coming in second were the dinosaurs at the Las Vegas Natural History Museum.

Our Pick: CLARK COUNTY HERITAGE MUSEUM

1830 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson
It's always fun to learn what Southern Nevada was like before all of us got here. The $1.50 won't set you back, and the big, open environment lets you walk through many of the attractions that include a ghost town, mining exhibit, historic pioneer home, pueblo and a railroad caboose. There also are special exhibits and events such as the Native American Arts Festival March 26-28.
