Public art

Readers' Pick: BELLAGIO

3600 Las Vegas Blvd. South
It's a big hotel, so we're not sure which part of the Bellagio drew the votes. The previously described art gallery is public for an admission fee, but the commons areas of the hotel also are packed with artwork. The lobby, for instance houses the "Fiori di Como," a $10 million glass chandelier by Dale Chihuly. Maybe that's what you meant. Sounds good to us. The lifelike human sculptures found around Green Valley were the second most popular pick.

Our Pick: D GATE MURALS

McCarran International Airport
5757 Wayne Newton Blvd.

The retro art deco immensity of McCarran's D Gate terminal is a work of architectural art in its own right. But if you look around a bit while waiting for your mother-in-law's late flight you can lose yourself in the commissioned 25-foot murals depicting outdoor scenes -- such as the bighorn sheep by Robert Beckmann -- or similar panoramas showing the nongaming side of Nevada.
