We feel safe in the assumption that readers are thinking about the Ranch 99 Market when they name Chinatown Plaza the top ethnic store. Aisle after aisle is stocked with items used in Asian cooking. There are bags of rice the size of small children, sauces of every imaginable kind (from oyster to chili to hoisin), live seafood, candy, cooking utensils, coconut milks and teas. Even the produce and meat sections are as plentiful as many traditional American markets. Second place went to the International Marketplace.

Did we mention the fish and seafood? Where else can you find hundreds of frozen selections including soft-shell crab, oyster, shrimp, even frog legs? Recent live selections included lobster, crab, shrimp, red snapper and silver carp. Stepping into this portion of the store is truly akin to stepping into another world.
