Readers' Pick: RED ROCK CANYON NATIONAL CONSERVATION AREA
West of Las Vegas off Charleston Boulevard
The one-way loop trail is 13 miles long -- not much, really, until you toss in a climb that kicks many riders off their saddles to walk the steeper segments of this well-paved and scenic serpentine route. Readers voted the Summerlin area second. Maybe the area's model homes, condos and apartments came into play among riders who take breaks for housing tours before hopping back on their two-wheelers.
Our Pick: RED ROCK CANYON NATIONAL CONSERVATION AREA
Well, the downhill stretches are challenging if pedaling-free, a fitting reward for low-gearing your way up the tougher half of the loop trail. The drop takes riders nearly back to their starting point and a road that is excellent for speed runs to Blue Diamond. Just watch out for burros loitering around wearing those "Will eat for food" signs.
