Yet another win for this reasonably priced workout place where the fit fight fat in all ways and fashions, from free weights to a ski simulator and other strange machines that look somewhat medieval. Depending on the location, there are swimming pools and wet and dry saunas. Most crucial to parents, all outlets offer child care so Mom and Dad can feel the burn minus junior's whine. What really helps is that all sites operate 24 hours a day save major holidays, another plus in a nonstop town where one-third of the population is asleep at any given moment. Finishing a distant second was 24-Hour Fitness.

We got the T-shirts out of Los Angeles before these sweat palaces arrived minus the frills (i.e., no swimming pools or steam baths). These Spartan facilities are open for tone-ups 24 hours a day, except on big holidays. There are tanning booths and child-tending at all outlets. Most have separate workout areas for women who prefer a testosterone-free zone for their exercise. Two more gyms are planned to be built in the northwest and southwest this year.
