Readers stuck with IHOP like so much maple syrup to give it the wake-up call for the third year running. This might be a no-brainer in most cities, but in this breakfast all day, any day town, you have to know your Western from your Spanish omelet. (Now which one has the ham again?) Placing second was the Original Pancake House.

We noted back in 1997 that it took a boss breakfast to fight the casinos, chain restaurants and a hard-to-access location at the corner of Charleston and Decatur boulevards. But this pancake house is still bringing plates to your table that make you say, "No way can I finish that."
