Best Diner/Coffee Shop

Readers' Pick:
5 & DINER
Multiple locations
Authentic diners are mostly gone from the American landscape ‹ unless you count those precious, and pricey, malt-shop theme replicas coming soon to a mall near you. Well, the modern era-born 5 & Diner is proving that plenty of people choose a diner over food prepared by celebrity chefs who fuse Mediterranean influences with Pan-Asian and Canadian overtones. The number of 5 & Diner outlets has doubled to four in the past year. Blueberry Hill finished second.

Our Pick:
JAMMS RESTAURANT
1029 S. Rainbow Blvd.
Yes, we know. There's another place with the same name, but they are separate establishments and we are picky. The Jamms on Rainbow is our favorite for some of the best coffee-shop fare we've had. Anywhere! Prices are low for platters of French toast, large servings of healthy fruits and juices, and traditional breakfast specialties served with care by the personable staff. It's one of those rare places where customers will still stop at the register to say thanks even if they are already checked out.
