Best Attraction

Readers enjoy the fountain show,
the choice for Best Attraction, at Bellagio.

R-J staffers enjoy seeing a bit of France in Las Vegas.

Readers' Pick:
FOUNTAIN SHOW
Bellagio
3600 Las Vegas Blvd. South
Did you ever think the day would come when exploding, sinking pirate ships would become yesterday's news? Yes folks, the time has come for the beloved Treasure Island battle to take second place to the same company's fountain show, which avoids the togetherness of the Treasure Island sidewalk by spreading out across 1,100 feet, blasting water 240 feet into the air for all to see -- and even feel, depending on which way the wind's blowing. "Singin' in the Rain" indeed.

Our Pick:
EIFFEL TOWER
Paris
3655 Las Vegas Blvd. South
Something just feels right about cruising along I-15 at dusk, veering to dodge windshield-threatening stones from that construction truck in front of you, and seeing the Eiffel Tower glowing in the horizon. It's only half as tall as the real one and nowhere near as tall as Stratosphere Tower, but much more eye-appealing, thank you. Granted, the $8 ride to the observation deck is a bit of a gouge. But it's cheaper than a trip to France, even if it doesn't help us save for that someday, maybe dinner at the Eiffel Tower Restaurant midway up.
