Best Downtown Hotel

Readers' Pick:
BINION'S HORSESHOE
128 Fremont St.
Some hoity-toity theme-park re-creation of a European city it ain't. And that's a good thing when you're talking about Binion's, which hearkens back to Las Vegas' less-sissified days of smokinš, drinkinš, gamblinš and steak-eatinš. As much fun as all that is, the question begs: Did readers bet on Binion's before word got around that the million-dollar display and accompanying souvenir photo op were gone? It's a loss, but Binion's is still a winner. Its next-door neighbor, the Fremont, finished second.

Our Pick:
MAIN STREET STATION
200 N. Main St.
Downtown is perceived as a comedown from the Strip, but Main Street Station exploits the advantages of Glitter Gulch that we prefer to the busy Boulevard. The casino is cozy and easy to navigate, the parking is convenient and the brew pub is just a few minutes from the newsroom. The attractive Garden Court Buffet and Pullman Grille dining room would do any restaurant on the Strip proud.
