Best Singer

Clint Holmes' emergence in Las Vegas last year earned him Best Singer accolades from readers.

Readers' Pick:
CLINT HOLMES
Golden Nugget
129 Fremont St.
Harrah's Las Vegas
3475 Las Vegas Blvd. South
Singing in the shower paid off for Clint Holmes. We refer, of course, to a creative TV spot that introduced the Atlantic City transplant to Las Vegas, even if it lasted for only a five-month run at the Golden Nugget last year. Holmes toweled off and reopened at Harrah's, where he starts each show with a quiet number to set the tone for a singer's showcase. Singing impressionist Danny Gans was a distant second in a category most voters turned a deaf ear to.

Our Pick:
SARAH BRIGHTMAN
MGM Grand
3799 Las Vegas Blvd. South
We're stretching things a bit here since Andrew Lloyd Webber's ex-wife performed in only one hotel during the voting year. But a June date at Artemus Ham Hall at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and a September follow-up at the MGM Grand Garden offered a double delight for fans of the British soprano, who understands the differences between classical and pop stylings, yet bridges them perfectly.
