Best Used-Record Shop

Wax Trax gets the nod from the R-J staff for it's collection of albums.

Readers' Pick:
RECORD CITY
Multiple locations
Record City is about records, period. Well, OK, it sells CDs and tapes, too, but this is not an all-things-to-all-people superstore loaded with frills. It's simple and straightforward, which leaves lots of room for music in every genre. Wherehouse finished second.

Our Pick:
WAX TRAX
2909 S. Decatur Blvd.
For those of us who remember when albums were records -- big platters, instead of those little discs -- Wax Trax feels like home, which is appropriate, since it's in a house. Records from the '50s and '60s are the specialty.
