Guest Pick: Best Nevada Getaway

FORMER U.S. SEN. RICHARD BRYAN

For 12 years as a U.S. senator and six years as Nevada governor, Richard Bryan tramped across the state. As a result, he's a distinguished authority on where the best spot in the state is to take a quickie vacation away from Las Vegas.

Lake Tahoe is the obvious choice for Bryan, who's left public office and is in private law practice at the statewide law firm of Lionel, Sawyer & Collins.

"The natural beauty. The freshness of the air. It's majestic. It's the jewel of the Sierra Nevada. It's very special," Bryan says. "It's an opportunity to have communication with nature, not far removed from the urban. You don't have to backpack for three days" to arrive at a remote site.
